We have to back our basics - Tilak Varma on upcoming challenge against Namibia

Team India will be playing Namibia in their second clash of the ongoing T20 World Cup in less than a few hours from now. After a hiccup in the top order against USA, Suryakumar Yadav and company will like to turn the tables emphatically ahead of their clash against Pakistan, looking for the all-important win and some significant momentum.

Talking in the pre-match press conference, Indian batter, Tilak Varma, opened up on India's mindset ahead of the clash while highlighting the fact that taking a team lightly might prove to be very costly. There have been a handful of spectacular performances from the teams who were deemed underdogs, upping the overall gentry of the fray.

Shedding light on the quality of the opponents and India's understanding of their upcoming opposition, Varma said, "You can't take any new team lightly, especially in a World Cup. You have seen it in the last match. We haven't taken it lightly but we need to read the conditions. Surya bhai has helped a lot with the innings he played that night (against the USA)."

Varma followed it up with how backing one's strength is also important, adding, "At the same point, we have to back our basics and play our best game by looking at the field and the situation they are in. Every ball is of huge importance as T20 cricket is a small format. Anything can happen. Any team can defeat anyone. It is important for you to come with your A game to every match."
