With the Indian bowling falling flat in Bengaluru against a formidable New Zealand side, BCCI have added Washington Sundar to the India squad ahead of the second Test. Sundar grabbed the limelight with an exquisite 152 against Delhi while batting at number three for Tamil Nadu in the latest iteration of India’s premier domestic competition, Ranji Trophy.

Washington Sundar has been a part of four Test matches so far, and in all four of them, he has done an incredible job with the bat. He started his Test career in that iconic Gabba Test where India breached the gates of the unsullied. In that Test, Sundar played a crucial role by scoring 62 in the first innings and also managed to rack up 22 crucial runs in the second innings to provide Rishabh Pant the all-important support that saw India clinching a humdinger win.

With the introduction of Washington Sundar, India’s spin strength also goes up as they will have an added option alongside the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel. With Sundar coming in, it will be interesting to see how India line up on what is expected to be a turning track at the MCA Stadium in Pune.

India squad for the second and the third Tests:

Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Akash Deep, Washington Sundar
