It was a bitter pill to swallow for Royal Challengers Bengaluru as they suffered a narrow defeat in a quality thriller in Lucknow. Chasing 213 for the win, RCB mounted a strong turnaround despite the early dismissals of Virat Kohli and Jacob Bethell. The man who led the charge for Royal Challengers was their captain, Rajat Patidar.

Patidar hammered a 31-ball 61 to steer RCB’s turnaround after the initial wobble. Speaking at the post-match presentation, Patidar discussed the game's dynamics and the blueprint for RCB moving forward.

Explaining the conditions in play, Patidar said, “We were pretty sure how to go about the target. Boys played well and the way we stretched this game, just one or two shots behind. It was really good batting track. Was coming nicely on the bat. Difficult to analyse just after the game, need some time to analyse it. We have four games more, just taking one game at a time, one step at a time.”

Shedding light on how good Mitchell Marsh’s knock was, Patidar added, “Mitchell Marsh was beautiful, the way he played. And especially in the powerplay, he kept us under pressure. I was confused about the bowlers - who should I bowl to Mitchell Marsh just after the powerplay. But I think the way he played, I think that was a tremendous inning.”

He concluded with a word about RCB’s innings, stating, “The way we played, that was really good intent showed by all batsmen. Everyone is looking confident and in a great space of mind.”
