Stat-Blast: Smriti Mandhana rewrites the history books in Dubai

Smriti Mandhana was at her fearsome best last night, relentlessly dismantling Hong Kong's bowling order. Her 64-ball-124 saw India post the highest total in the 2026 Women's Asia Cup while she herself racked up significant milestones, en route to her record-breaking knock.

Here is a list of records that were created or toppled by Smriti Mandhana and India in their formidable win against Hong Kong.

• Mandhana became the leading run-scorer in women's international cricket with a tally of 10,880 runs, leapfrogging former India captain Mithali Raj,  whose haul read 10,868 runs. She now leads the 10,000 run-club in women's cricket, which features players like Mithali, Suzie Bates, Charlotte Edwards, Stafanie Taylor and herself.

• Mandhana became the leading centurion in women's international cricket, registering 18 tons across all formats, surging past Laura Wolvaardt and Meg Lanning, who both have 17 tons.

• Mandhana's 124 is the highest ever individual score by an Indian in WT20Is. She surpassed her own record of 112 which she scored against England in Trent Bridge.

• Mandhana's ton against Hong Kong is the only the second century in Women's Asia Cup after Chamari Athapaththu scored an unbeaten 119 against Malaysia at Dambulla in 2019.

• Smriti now stands levelled with Mithali Raj for the most 50-plus scores across all formats of the game with 93 such knocks. Both Mandhana and Mithali are well ahead of their closest pursuer, Charlotte Edwards who has 80 fifty-plus knocks next to her name.

• Mandhana struck seven sixes against Hong Kong, bringing her tally to 95 and overtaking Harmanpreet Kaur's record of 89. She is now preceded only by Sophie Devine, Deandra Dottin and Chamari Athapaththu.

• Mandhana's seven sixes were also the second highest number of sixes struck in a T20I innings, just one adrift of Harmanpreet Kaur's eight against New Zealand in Providence in 2018.

• Mandhana became the first cricketer to aggregate 500-plus runs in women's T20Is in four different calendar years - 2026, 2024, 2022 and 2018.

• India's total of 193 is the second-highest total chronicled in an innings in the Women's Asia Cup. The first one is that of 201, registered by India against UAE in Dambulla in 2024.

• India's 137-run win against Hong Kong is the second highest victory margin for India in a WT20I game. The first is that of 142 runs which came against Malaysia in 2018.
