Simran Sharma and Navdeep Singh enhanced India’s medal tally in the ongoing Paris Paralympics to a staggering 29, clinching a bronze and a gold to cap off an enthralling Saturday night. Simran won the bronze in women’s 200m T12 while Navdeep registered gold in the men’s javelin throw F41.

Navdeep initially finished second with a throw of 47.32m metres. However, the entire dynamics changed when Iran’s Beit Sayah was disqualified for breaching the World Para Athletics Rules and Regulations, promoting the Indian to the gold medal.

Simran clocked a new personal best of 24.75s, while Cuba’s Omara Durand Elias registered gold with a timing of 23.62s. Venezuela’s Alejandro Paola Perez Lopez landed silver with a timing of 24.19s. With 29 medals, this has been India’s best Paralympics display in the overall antiquity of the Games. Accruing seven gold, nine silver and 13 bronze, the Indian contingent impressed heavily in Paris.
