The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that an Indian player in England has tested positive for COVID-19. Although the identity of the player is not revealed yet, various news websites have reported that the player who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus is wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant.

According to a report in Times Now, Pant contracted the virus 8 days ago and has since been isolating at a friend's place in London. Much to the relief of the management, the wicket-keeper batsman is asymptomatic.

Team India is traveling to Durham from London on 15th July and Pant will not be a part of the contingent. He is expected to join after fully recovering from the virus.

"He (Pant) is in quarantine at an acquaintance's a place and won't be traveling with the team to Durham on Thursday," a BCCI source told PTI on Thursday.

"Yes, one player has tested positive but he has been in isolation for the last eight days. He was not staying in any hotel with the team, so no other player has been affected. But I can't divulge the name of the player," BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla told PTI on Thursday.

"As of now, no other player has tested positive. Also, you must be aware our secretary Jay Shah has written a letter to all players to maintain protocols," Shukla added.

Team India was allowed to disperse after the conclusion of the World Test Championship and are now assembling in the bio-bubble for the five-match Test series against hosts England.
