Donning the Indian threats is special for any player, and when one makes their international bow at a World Cup, the whole journey takes a new flight and the emotions are absolutely raw and unfiltered.

Richa Ghosh, one of Indian cricket's most exciting talents, made her India T20I debut at the tender age of 16 when she came on as a concussion substitute in the 2020 ICC T20 Women’s World Cup final, the building blocks of a journey that would soon take over the skies.

Talking on the latest episode of Big Basket presents RCB Podcast: Bold & Beyond, Richa Ghosh shed some light on how she found out she was picked for the World Cup squad.

Richa said, “When my name was first announced, I was playing a practice match in Kolkata. I didn’t know that I had been selected. Papa came to know. I had done well in the domestic matches so I was expecting that I might get called up. I scored well against Delhi. I remember, Bengal was 20 or some odd runs in the first ten overs and from there they went on to score 170. I had scored 60-70 runs in that surge from 30 balls. We won that match.”

She further added, “When your performance is good, you have a belief that my name can come. It is a World Cup. One thing is that I was playing normal matches for Bengal. My dad came to know that I was selected. When Papa came to know, he left everything and came to the ground. Before Papa came, the media arrived. I was wondering why the media was here. When I got to know that I was selected, my father was extremely happy. Everyone was very happy back then.”
