RCB Bold Diaries: Richa Ghosh steals the headlines as batters enjoy field day at the Chinnaswamy
Namma Chinnaswamy stayed witness to what can very well be the future scenes of WPL 2025 as the women's team batters lit it up with an incredible showdown of pyrotechnics. It was a practice match in the camp and the players enjoyed being out in the middle, playing the game with intensity interspersed with a fair bit of banter.
The latest episode of RCB Bold Diaries gave a sneak peek into the practice match and it was an absolute runfest. RCB’s head coach, Luke Williams, made it very clear at the very start that he wanted intensity from the players as he said, “Tonight we are going to play a practice match. I would really love tonight’s match to be one of intensity. I know it’s a practice match but let’s treat it as if it’s the first WPL game.”
The first innings was headlined by Richa Ghosh, who was seen unfurling some massive shots, complemented well by newly-signed batter, Raghvi Bisht. Richa smacked an unbeaten 94, clobbering away fours and sixes at will as she fuelled her team to 199/3 at the end of 20 overs.
Coach Luke, at the half-way mark, drew parallels to the nature of the Chinnaswamy as a batters' paradise and said, “We just finished the first-innings in the practice game. The batters have put up quite a show in the first innings. You would expect scores around 200 or 200 plus. Guess what, that’s exactly what the target will be tonight.”
And well, practice matches have their intensity for sure but who says it needs to be boring? Shreyanka Patil brought forth her own bits of fun, decoding the game faces of Raghvi Bisht and Kanika Ahuja. She very calmly pointed out the seriousness on Bisht’s face while the wonder in her voice was palpable trying to figure out when Ahuja would get padded up.
There was no dearth of shots as the second innings chronicled a higher score which read 214/3. And following all of that, Shreyanka Patil had a post-practice presentation for Raghvi Bisht, who stayed unbeaten for a ferocious 56. Bisht enjoyed batting with another ‘beast’ Richa Ghosh as she heaped significant praise on her, stating, “Richa was hitting the shots brilliantly.”
She was also awarded a power-brownie by Shreyanka as the two shared a moment to be cherished. The happy scenes in the camp simply augured for the good times to roll. You can watch the video here.
