Ravi Shastri picks his Indian squad for 2027 ICC ODI World Cup
As discussions around India’s prospects for the 2027 ODI World Cup have already begun, plenty of speculation is swirling over what India’s probable squad could look like.
Amidst the growing opinions pouring in from various corners of the country, former Indian cricketer and coach Ravi Shastri picked his squad for the tournament, featuring an intriguing mix of youth and experience.
In a chat with Sportstak, Shastri revealed his squad, commanded by the presence of a powerful batting unit.
According to Shastri, Shubman Gill should continue to lead the Indian side, while he was willing to pin his hopes on the burly shoulders of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, two of India’s finest.
Following the top-three combination of Shubman Gill, Kohli and Sharma, Shastri named the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, rounding out a formidable batting unit. Shastri wants Hardik Pandya back in the side, while Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel should, according to him, be the two other all-rounders.
In India’s pace department, Shastri believes the Men in Blue should recall Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was absolutely instrumental in the 2026 IPL. Alongside Kumar, Shastri opted for the experienced trio of Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah. However, when it comes to spin, Shastri’s primary spinner was Kuldeep Yadav.
Ravi Shastri’s predicted squad for 2027 ODI World Cup:
Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav.
