My inner self kind of opened up – Shreyanka Patil on her comeback from injury
For any athlete, returning from an injury is one of the toughest things to do. Shreyanka Patil suffered two consecutive injuries, came back stronger than ever, and lifted the WPL 2026 Trophy with RCB. However, the entire journey was difficult for her but she received help. From enduring intense dark days to donning the RCB fabric again, Shreyanka took it all in and emerged the champion she is.
Talking on Big Basket presents RCB Podcast, Patil opened up about the transformative journey she went through during rehab. She also discussed how a little help from all corners opened up new sides of life to her, making the journey even more wholesome.
Shreyanka said, “I don't know how I came out of it. Like even my parents, my close ones, they all asked me, how did you actually come out of it? I'm like, I don't know. I think my inner self kind of opened up by itself and I'm like, one day, I don't know what happened to me and I'm like, just shut everything.”
She further added, “It's okay, whatever has happened or whatever is going to happen, it's not in my control. What's in my control is to start enjoying my rehab, start enjoying or talking to people who are around me because I thought I was the only one who was facing so many injuries, mentally not so good, not happy. And then once I started talking to people, it's when I got to know, okay, I'm not the only one who's going through this.”
She also stated how others helped her during this journey, adding, “I heard their stories and we started sharing stuff. I asked people, like there are a lot of people you spoke to. So I spoke to Sai Sudarshan, I spoke to Riyan (Parag), I spoke to Mayank Yadav. There was Amanjot Kaur, there was Asha. So we ended up having lots of conversations. How are you feeling? And then that made us feel calmer and peaceful and then, okay, I'm not alone in this.”
She concluded by stating, “So yeah, that kind of helped me. And then again, just enjoying those small moments, like just be talking to your physio and making fun or just having a meal with your SNC or physio or be it your friends. So that kind of helped me. This is a very small thing. I don't know if it will help others, but it did help me.”
