In numbers: India-W's domination against England-W in Tests
The Indian women will yet again be an integral part of cricket history when they lock horns against a stacked England squad for the one-off Test at Lord’s. This will be India’s second Test this year, following the first against Australia at the WACA.
Despite England’s glittering exploits in the shorter versions of the game, India have achieved significant success in the longest format. In a stunning fact, India has never lost a Test to England since 1995 and surprisingly, India remains undefeated in England’s backyard.
On the eve of India’s first-ever Test in the Lord’s, here’s a quick glance at how numbers stack up in favour of the visitors in terms of this rivalry:
· Since 1995, India have not lost a Test against England.
· The last time these two teams met was in December 2023 where India secured a staggering 347-run win against England in Navi Mumbai.
· India have played nine Tests in England and has been unbeaten in all nine of them (two wins, seven draws).
· The last win for India in England came in 2014. The clash was played in Wormsley and India secured a comfortable six-wicket win with Smriti Mandhana registering a half-century.
Apart from the numbers, here’s also a quick glance at what happened when India won against England last in the latter’s backyard:
