I felt they wanted to achieve something – Bhuvneshwar Kumar on his first impression upon returning to RCB

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru signed Bhuvneshwar Kumar ahead of IPL 2025, picking the pacer to lead the squad's bowling unit given his wealth of experience.

Talking on Big Basket presents RCB Podcast, Bhuvneshwar Kumar opened up on his initial impression of getting back to RCB. He also shed some light on the relentless pressure that came along with the honour of being with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Bhuvi said, “When I got picked in the 2025 IPL auction, everyone knew how the RCB fanbase is, how great the team is. I have always heard good things about them. But Chinnaswamy is not helpful for the bowlers. But there was hope that the ball swings initially in Chinnaswamy. Hope gives you things to work on.”

He further added, “But when I met Mo (Bobat) and Andy (Flower) and DK (Dinesh Kartik), there was clarity in what they wanted to achieve as a management. They were the first guys to have the vision and they bought accordingly from the auction. So when I met them, I felt that they wanted to achieve something and they had a vision to include every individual player.”

Bhuvi continued, “So honestly, when I met them for the first time, I still remember the line ‘I know that RCB has never won a title and it’s up to us to that we take it as a challenge or we can play pressure free since they never won anyway’. This is a point of cue for me. And we took it as a challenge.”
