How many more points do RCB need to qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs?

The Rain Gods played spoilsport in Chinnaswamy last evening as the IPL's resumption and RCB's game against KKR was abandoned without a ball being bowled. Although the Knight Riders picked up a point, the defending champions were eliminated from the race to the playoffs.

RCB, on the other hand, made further strides in their quest for a spot in the top four, and will need just another point from their remaining two games to seal their spot in the playoffs. RCB are yet to host the Sunrisers Hyderabad (May 23rd), before they travel to Lucknow for the last league stage game on May 27th.

Notably, five teams can still finish with 17 points or more as the current points table suggests. Apart from RCB - Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals have the possibility to cross the 17-point mark - further highlighting how close this season has been.

Apart from the points table, however, a few notable matches that can also expedite RCB’s advancement to the play-offs include that of RR versus PBKS, GT versus DC. If the Rajasthan Royals beat Punjab Kings, then RCB will sail through. If the Gujarat Titans beat the Delhi Capitals, RCB and GT will be advancing. If Punjab Kings can get the better of Rajasthan Royals alongside Gujarat Titans beating Delhi Capitals, then PBKS, RCB and GT will make it. However, if PBKS beats RR and DC beats GT, then no team will officially qualify just yet.

If RCB rack up a point from the remaining games, then they will qualify for their fifth IPL playoffs in the last six years, showcasing persistence and consistency from the franchise.
