Happy birthday, Queen - Smriti Mandhana celebrates her 30th birthday
Cricket has always been about numbers and statistics. From clocking high-intensity workouts to digging in and clawing out every single run, every athlete clings to numbers.
But numbers don’t always need to be scary, or something pursued with unwavering, unflinching dedication. Numbers can be lovely too - a beacon of inspiration in their own right.
For the Royal Challengers, 18 is one such number, commanding interminable love and unparalleled respect.
Today, on the 18th of July, we celebrate the other half of that number 18 in our side - our Queen, Smriti Mandhana. The RCB captain, who turns 30 today, has become an endless source of inspiration for countless girls across the nation.
It isn’t just with the bat that Mandhana leads - she’s a leader in every sense. A force to reckon with at the crease, Smriti has driven a revolution like never before.
As captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru and vice-captain of the Indian cricket team, Mandhana remains at the heart of the women’s cricketing revolution.
Mandhana’s career graph only keeps ascending. The feats she has racked up over the years stand as a blazing testimony to what she is capable of. As we celebrate her 30th birthday, here’s a quick look at some of the milestones Smriti has set along the way:
Smriti holds the record for the most runs by any player in WODIs in a calendar year, with 1,362 runs.
• Mandhana continues to hold the record for the most T20I runs for India across both men’s and women’s cricket.
• She is the only cricketer in history, across both men’s and women’s cricket, to have struck 600 fours in T20Is.
• Smriti became the first Indian woman to score centuries across all three formats.
• Mandhana became the fastest woman to reach 10,000 international runs.
• Smriti continues to lead the way with 36 WT20I half-centuries - the most by any player.
• Mandhana also became the fastest woman to reach 5,000 ODI runs.
• Smriti struck the joint-most hundreds by any player in a WODI calendar year in 2025, with five tons.
We wish our Queen a very happy birthday. The name Smriti Mandhana has been, is, and will always be synonymous with indispensable leadership for us.
