Happy birthday, Georgia Voll: RCB's sky-conquering hard-hitter
There's a famous saying that goes, "You save the best for the last". Well, in cricket, that theory gets tweaked into "you perform better with every single game". And then arrives the grand finale, where you need to unleash your very best to eventually secure the crown. And Georgia Voll understood this assignment better than anyone else in the WPL 2026 summit clash.
Delhi Capitals, who were in their fourth consecutive WPL final, posted a monumental total on the board. Chasing down a target of 204 required a solid start from Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Much to RCB's surprise, they lost Grace Harris early in the innings.
Mandhana couldn't afford to slow down, even if that meant risking too much. So she needed someone who could hold up the other end and assure her of a stand that wouldn't be fazed by scoreboard pressure. Georgia Voll arrived and hunkered down to work.
It wasn't an innings of extreme rush from the Aussie hard-hitter. She took her time, paced the innings perfectly, and, more importantly, the languid ease with which she batted assured Smriti that this partnership would change the course of history. Voll brought up her half-century in the finale with a single against Sree Charani in the 11th over, as RCB motored along. She wasn't overly focused on striking the ball hard - her innings was all about placement and timing.
By the time she was done with her onslaught, she had already amassed 79 off 54 balls. More importantly, Voll was part of a 165-run stand with Smriti Mandhana, propelling RCB to 174. Voll concluded her WPL 2025-26 season with a tally of 170 runs at an average of 34 and a strike rate of 126.86.
We only wish to see her go from strength to strength, and, more importantly, we wish her a very happy 23rd birthday. Keep on rocking, Georgia.
