Absolute steal – Ravichandran Ashwin on RCB signing Jacob Duffy
Former Indian spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin lauded RCB’s latest purchase, Jacob Duffy, who has been in sensational form across 2025. Duffy’s nine-wicket haul against West Indies in the final Test of the three-match series propelled his calendar tally to 81 international wickets, which is the highest by any Kiwi bowler in a calendar year, leapfrogging Richard Hadlee’s record of 79 scalps in 1985.
Duffy picked 23 wickets in the series, which featured fifers in all of the three Test matches, underlining the consistency which he has been known for ever since he set foot in the cricketing yard.
Lauding Duffy, Ashwin penned on X, “What a cricketer Jacob Duffy is turning out to be. 2025 has been his coming-of-age year. 23 wickets at 15.43, 40.3 Strike rate and MOS in the tests against Windies. He’s also the current #2 ranked T20I bowler, with a sensational 2025 in T20s with 57 wickets at 18.9, 7.89 economy, and an elite 53.1% dot ball rate. At 31, he’s operating at peak efficiency.”
