A masterclass – Smriti Mandhana lauds India’s unbridled dominance against Zimbabwe
India crushed Zimbabwe in the WODI series opener in Vadodara as an all-round show from the Women in Blue saw them raze through Zimbabwe, chasing down 198 without breaking a sweat. The Indian captain knitted together a crucial 94-run stand with Pratika Rawal while also scoring 32 off 34 balls.
Talking at the post-match presentation, Mandhana opened up on India’s overall performance while also highlighting the incredible work that the bowlers put in.
Reflecting on India’s overall performance, Mandhana said, “Coming into a different ground, I think the bowlers adapted really well, especially Shree Charani, I think standout bowler for us. Also the pacers, the way they bowled, Kranti to mention, out of all the bowlers, they were pretty disciplined.”
Adding further, she said, “Yes, we can tidy up our fielding, a few catches went down our way, but otherwise, again Shafali and Pratika went about that chase, and it was a masterclass.”
She concluded by talking about playing the longer format after a long time, stating, “Well, we are playing fifty overs after a very long time. We have played T20 cricket for almost last seven months, so definitely the period between 20 to 35, I would say, we could have had more intensity on the field. That is something which we will take it back from a game and work on.”
