A dream come true moment – Vaibhav Sooryavanshi on his Player of the Series performance against Zimbabwe

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi dished out another commanding performance in the series finale in Harare as India dismantled Zimbabwe to win the series 3-0.

Sooryavanshi smashed 81 off 49 to enhance his overall tally to 151 runs, that also bagged him the Player of the Series award.

Talking at the post-match presentation, Sooryavanshi opened up on his overall performance in the series while also talking about his attitude coming into the fray.

He also shed some light on his love connection with Harare as his performances at the venue saw him turn a new page in his international career.

Reflecting on his performance in the series, Sooryavanshi said, “It felt really good. Our preparation was very good during the two or three days after we arrived in Harare. I also played the Under-19 World Cup here, so I really enjoy playing at this venue. Everyone backed me - the captain, the coaches, everyone - so I'm very happy.”

Shedding light on his aggressive approach, Sooryavanshi added, “My game is the same as what I play in T20 cricket. I was just trying to do that for the team. In all three matches, I tried to give the team a good start. If I got a good start, then I wanted to make the innings bigger. That was my only approach.”

Explaining the Harare connection and the feelings on winning the Player of the Series award, Sooryavanshi added, “The shots that I play are the same ones I practise. I just try to replicate in the match whatever I do in the practice sessions. Yes, it's truly a dream come true moment. Getting my first Man of the Match and Man of the Series awards, I'm very happy.”
